Tassel Garland
The easiest DIY project that looks so great with my boho classroom theme! I looked for one of these for the longest time, but I couldn't find one that was worth the price and had the colors I loved. So, I made my own!
I started with this 6 foot wood bead garland from Hobby Lobby. The beads were already strung so there's no work to do for that! Then, I picked out 5 colors of yarn (the colors are Sage, Spice, Blush, Mustard, and Light Blue). I went with more muted colors that match my room. Now, you're ready to make the tassels!
To make the tassels, all you need is a piece of cardboard (2 inches x 5 inches; however long your cardboard is, that is how long your tassel will be), scissors, and your yarn.
How to make:
1. Wrap yarn around cardboard 25 times, cut off from skein
2. Thread a 1 ft piece of yarn under wrapped loops of yarn, tie a knot at the top
3. Cut off loops of yarn at the bottom of the cardboard
4. Tie a 1.5 ft piece of yarn towards the top of the tassel, leave one side long
5. Wrap the long side around the top of the tassel, tie it off
6. Make a bunch more! (I used 28 tassels)
7. Add the tassels to your wood bead garland by tying them in between the beads- I spaced mine every 3 beads
Voila!
Below is a video tutorial on how to make the tassels. They are so easy once you get the hang of it!! Happy crafting!
